It’s hard to believe we’re already wrapping up 2024, but what a year it’s been for Devon’s Dog Sitting!
We did it! We finally added to our team! After speaking for so long about wanting to hire some help, I finally took the plunge this summer bringing Mickayla onto the DDS team. While it was hard saying goodbye to her when she moved on, it brought us Genevieve! She’s been an absolute rockstar—so kind, professional and funny, and truly passionate about providing the best care for your pups. It’s been such a joy watching her bond with all the pets, and we’re so lucky to have her on board. Unfortunately, Genevieve will be moving on to new opportunities in mid-January 2025. While I'm sad to see her go, I'm incredibly grateful for everything she’s contributed, and I wish her all the best in whatever’s next. Thanks for all your hard work, Genevieve! And I'm glad we've still got you for a little over a month!
One of my personal highlights was achieving my Fear Free certification, which was a goal I set for myself this year. It’s been an amazing journey to deepen my understanding of stress-free care for pets, and it has been incredible seeing the difference when Fear Free strategies are incorporated into the day to day life with your dogs.
Looking ahead to 2025, I’m excited to share that I’ll be attending the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters (NAPPS) Conference again in late Feb/early March, this time in Tempe, Arizona. It’s going to be a great opportunity to connect with other pet care professionals, learn new tricks of the trade, and bring back fresh ideas to keep improving the services we offer at Devon’s Dog Sitting. I'm excited to see the friends I have made at the conferences over the last few years and to make some new ones!
Although we’re going to miss Genevieve, we’re also looking forward to growing our team in the new year. When I originally drafted this blog, I wrote here about being on the hunt for new staff, but excitingly, I've got some folks lined up and I cannot wait to introduce you to them!
I want to take a moment to say a huge thank you to everyone who trusted us with their pets this year. Your support means the world to us, and we feel so lucky to be a part of your lives and care for your furry family members. We’re looking forward to another year of tail wags, cuddles, and happy dogs in 2025!
Wishing you all the best as we head into the new year!
With gratitude,
Devon (& Gemma)
